Established in 1950, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum is
the largest park of its kind in New England encompassing 35
acres, 20 miles northwest of Boston. Providing a constantly
changing landscape of large-scale, outdoor, modern and
contemporary sculpture and site-specific installations, the
Sculpture Park hosts more than 60 works, the majority of which
are on loan to the Museum. Inside, the Museum features a
robust slate of rotating exhibitions and innovative interpretive
programming. Patrons of deCordova can enjoy year round
activities in the Sculpture Park and Museum, including art
classes and workshops, snowshoe tours, yoga in the park,
birding tours, curator and artist conversations, and many
special talks, screenings, and events.

The elegantly furnished mansion at Gore Place is called “the
Monticello of the North” and architectural historians consider it to
be the most significant Federal period mansion in New England. Set
on 50 acres of land including gardens, sweeping lawns, and a farm
with chickens, goats, and sheep, Gore Place is an oasis of peace in
our busy urban landscape. The museum offers a full calendar of
events including the popular Sheepshearing Festival, concerts, family
activities, exhibits, themed tours, and holiday teas. Educational
programs for preschoolers, school groups, scouts, and home
schoolers include tours, outdoor adventures, story times, and farm
related activities. The mansion house is shown year-round by guided

LYMAN ESTATE

The Lyman Estate, built in 1793 for wealthy merchant Theodore
Lyman, is one of the finest examples in the United States of a
country estate laid out following the principles of eighteenth-
century English naturalistic design. For more than 150 years, it was
the country home to four generations of Boston’s prominent Lyman
family. House tours available on the third Saturday of every month,
10 am – 1 pm. Last tour at noon. Group tours available by
appointment. Admission charged. The Lyman Estate Greenhouses
are among the oldest surviving greenhouses in the country. They
contain century-old camellia trees and grapevines, along with a
large collection of orchids and other rare specimens. Greenhouse
tours available by appointment Monday - Friday. Plants sold year
round. Open Wednesday – Sunday, December 15 – July 15. Open
Wednesday – Saturday, July 16 – December 14. 9:30 am – 4 p.m.
